How Gap measures

Gap’s US chart measures straight down the inside leg from crotch to floor. Measure the natural waist separately, and measure hips at their fullest with heels together. Its tips distinguish a longer Long option from an extra-long, proportioned Tall fit.

Body-to-floor, body-to-ankle and garment-to-hem measurements are not interchangeable. Follow the retailer’s method, then compare with a pair that gives you the hem position you want.

Before you order

  • Check both the fit tab (Regular, Tall or Petite) and any separate length selector.
  • A 35.5-inch general chart does not make every Tall jean 35.5 inches.
  • Confirm your wash and size. A measurement list does not establish stock in each combination.

We checked retailer-published information, not garments in a first-hand fit test. Charts and availability can change.
